Usage
This sensor is ideal for detecting the presence and color of objects such as FTC game elements.
By default, the sensor operates in I2C mode, allowing output configuration. After configuring, the sensor will output digital or analog signals, retaining its configuration until it is reset back to I2C mode.
- Pin 0: Configurable as an analog output between 6 channels (Red, Green, Blue, Alpha, Hue, Proximity) or a digital output.
- Pin 1: Configurable as a digital output thresholding between the same 6 channels.
Why Digital/Analog?
Each I2C sensor takes upwards of 7 milliseconds to read, tanking the speed an opmode loops, while digital and analog signals have zero loop-speed impact when using bulk reads. Fast loop-speeds significantly improve PID performance and localization accuracy.
Features
- RGB Color Detection: Precise 16-bit resolution for red, green, and blue values, with onboard conversion to Hue and Alpha values.
- Proximity Sensing: Detects objects at a maximum range of 100mm (~4 inches) and is accurate down to 0.1mm within the first 20mm.
- Configurable Outputs: Two output pins that can be set to I2C, digital, or analog modes. Pin 0 supports analog output for proximity and hue, while both allow for digital threshold configuration.
- Built-in White LED: Adjustable brightness for optimal illumination of target surfaces.
